aromatherapy for real life pets (and their humans)
At the little blue house, aromatherapy isn’t a trend—it’s a way of living. Essential oils have walked beside me for over 30 years, woven into daily life in quiet, powerful ways: easing anxious hearts, supporting tired bodies, and bringing a little more peace into the space we all share… from head to toe, and paw to tail.
I believe our animals deserve the same level of care we want for ourselves:
-
A non-toxic home where the air, floors, and fabrics aren’t coated in chemicals.
-
A pesticide-free yard where paws can wander and roll without walking through poisons.
-
Gentle, respectful use of essential oils that honors the fact that your dog or cat can smell a dropped crumb from across the house—so a full-strength oil blast is not their idea of a spa day.
This space is designed to help you:
-
Understand how to use essential oils safely with pets and their humans.
-
Learn what’s truly pet-friendly—and what belongs firmly in the “not for animals” category.
-
Bring more calm, comfort, and clarity into your home using simple, low-tox aromatic rituals.
My approach is simple: no fear, no perfectionism, just thoughtful choices and clear guidance. One diluted drop, one cleaner product, one pesticide-free patch of yard at a time… we build a safer, softer world for the animals who trust us with their lives.
why doterra ?
I choose to partner with doTERRA because I want the same thing you do: clean, trustworthy plant medicine for both pets and parents. From the beginning, doTERRA created its own quality standard—CPTG® (Certified Pure Tested Grade)—because there wasn’t a real purity standard in the industry. Every batch is tested multiple times, including by third-party labs, and those results are made available through their Source to You™ platform so you can literally look up what’s in your bottle. I also appreciate that purity, for them, starts long before the lab. Their Co-Impact Sourcing® model means they work directly with growers and distillers in many countries to support fair labor, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable harvests—so the oils you and I use are rooted in respect for land and people, not just profit. Since 2008, doTERRA has grown into a global essential oil company with a strong track record, ongoing science, and a charitable arm—the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation®—that invests back into sourcing communities and humanitarian projects around the world. For me, that combination of transparency, rigorous testing, ethical sourcing, long-term stability, and community support is what allows me to use and recommend their oils with confidence as part of a holistic, low-toxin lifestyle for both pets and their people. Because I’m an aromatherapy pet specialist, purity and long-term stability aren’t just “nice to have”—they’re non-negotiable. I rely on ethical sourcing, rigorous testing, and real transparency so that when I give an internal dose or use an oil in my home, I know exactly what’s in the bottle and can confidently support my animals’ health, safety, and longevity.
Dogs and cats live nose-first—and aromatics can shape the emotional tone of a home more than we realize.

One of my greatest teachers in this work is Dr. Janet Roark, “The Essential Oil Vet,” from Austin, Texas. She’s a veterinarian who has dedicated her practice to helping pets and their people use essential oils safely and effectively, and her weekly classes and membership community are a goldmine for pet parents who want trustworthy guidance. I began my own journey with her Level One Pet Aromatherapy Specialist training and am now a certified Pet Aromatherapy Specialist, continuing my studies in her one-year advanced course. Her education, resources, and starter kits are where I first truly began using essential oils for my pets—and her teachings remain a cornerstone of my aromatherapy practice.
